Pure Love
“A mother is your first friend, your best friend, your forever friend.” —Unknown
The gift of celebrating Mother’s Day is supreme. Here are the letters I wrote to my babies; they are the catalyst behind me being a dynamic woman.
Dear Jamaar,
I look at your face, and I see light, love, ambition, strength, courage, and joy.
You are fearless, and you speak your mind with ease.
Thank you for challenging me and forcing me to level up as a woman. You made me a mother-yes, but you also made me find the strength I never knew existed within me.
I remember being terrified when I first brought you home. You were four days old, and it was you and me in a new city figuring out life.
I will never forget the many nights we cried together- literally, and you showed me grace as I learned to care for you.
You are the best big brother, and you acclimated to being the oldest in our family with impeccable leadership.
Marri, thank you for encouraging me, for loving me when at times, I did not love myself.
You are an intellectual genius. You assess a situation and make it better, and one day that beautiful mind, with its complex problem-solving skills, will positively change the world for the better.
Whether we are singing songs with made-up words, sharing deep belly laughs over silly moments, or watching math facts on youtube past your bedtime, I’m grateful that God allowed me to serve as your mommy.
I love you forever,
Mom ❤️
Dear Journei,
Your spirit is fierce. When you walk into a room, you light it up with your smile and your aura. Your beauty resonates from the inside out.
You are a queen. That powerful little voice is confident and assertive.
Thank you for your beautiful smile, thank you for the songs you sing nonstop, thank you for your creative energy with artwork with markers, crayons, and paint all over the walls and floors.
Thank you for always being willing to help me, whether it’s bringing mommy diapers for your baby = brother or consoling him when he cries, or trying to beat his back off to burp him; you are always caring for and loving us.
Thank you for the peace and strength I feel knowing that you are already a fearless young woman who stands up for what she wants and speaks up for those around her.
People say you are just like me, but in truth, Journei, you are better than me. You are truly fearless, a leader that moves with pride and purpose.
I love you, and I am grateful for you, baby girl.
Xo,
Mom ❤️
Dear Justice,
I love you, baby boy. You take me as I am, and I’m so grateful. When I’m exhausted from caring for your brother and sister, you smile at me and light up my world.
Your big bright eyes find me across any room, and when our eyes meet, you give me a big gummy smile from the depths of your soul.
You snuggle with me, giggling and cuddle with me.
Baby Justice, you saved my marriage, and you brought so much joy to our family, joy that we did not know existed.
Thank you for helping me find my way out of a broken place. Thank you for showing me that I’m stronger than I can ever imagine.
Thank you for being easy-going, chill, and lovable. You are the perfect balance for your brother and sister.
Your presence brings peace and positive energy. God is going to use you and your dynamic spirit to change the world for the better.
Love you,
Mom ❤️
The world calls me Dom, but they call me mom, and mom is the greatest title I will ever answer to.
I love you, Marri man, BINKY, and Big Jus.
